From there, you’ll have access to a short assessment questionnaire designed to help identify the most suitable level for your child based on their current skills and confidence in the water. If needed, you can also book a formal in-water assessment with one of our instructors for further guidance.
Our team is here to ensure your child begins in the right program, supporting a positive and confident start to their swimming journey.

Our Learn to Swim program operates on a term-based schedule, with classes running throughout the school term. Programs from Babies through to Emerald pause during school holidays, while our competitive squads (Ruby, Sapphire and Diamond) continue training during this period.
We encourage swimmers to stay active over the holidays, and offer intensive holiday programs to support continued progress. Details on upcoming programs can be found on our website.
Lessons do not run on public holidays, and any missed sessions are adjusted accordingly within your swim fees.
Yes - Active Kids vouchers issued through Service NSW can be used toward swimming lessons.
Once your booking is complete, you’ll have the option to add your voucher online through Active World. The applicable amount will then be credited to your family account in line with Service NSW terms and conditions.
If you’re unable to attend a lesson, please notify us at least one hour prior to your scheduled class.
When sufficient notice is provided and your account is up to date, you’ll be eligible to book a make-up lesson. These are valid for 28 days from the date of the missed class and can be booked online or through the app, up to 24 hours in advance.
Please note that make-up lessons cannot be rescheduled once booked, and missed lessons are not eligible for credits or refunds.
We do not offer refunds for missed or unused lessons. However, medical suspensions may be requested in certain circumstances.
Requests must be supported by a valid medical certificate and submitted within seven days of the first missed lesson. A minimum suspension period of two weeks applies.
Approved medical suspensions incur a reduced fee per booking, per week, for up to six weeks. After this period, full fees will resume unless the booking is cancelled.
This approach ensures continuity within our program while providing flexibility when it’s needed most.
If you need to withdraw from the program, a cancellation form must be completed and submitted at least seven days prior to your next scheduled debit to avoid further charges.
To request a cancellation form, please contact our team via email and we’ll assist you with the next steps.
Our Pool Deck Supervisors, who are among our most experienced instructors, are available to discuss your child’s progress and provide guidance.
To ensure all swimmers receive the most from their lesson time, we ask that teachers are not interrupted during classes. This helps maintain focus and a positive learning environment for everyone.
Yes - your access tag or app barcode provides secure entry to the facility and allows us to track attendance for each lesson.

All swimmers are required to wear appropriate swimwear for lessons. We recommend bringing a towel and warm clothing to change into after class to stay comfortable.
For younger swimmers in our Parents and Babies program, a firm-fitting swimming nappy is required. Both disposable and reusable options are available for purchase at reception.
For pre-school and school-aged swimmers, lightweight swimwear is encouraged, as items such as rash vests, T-shirts and board shorts can make movement and skill development more difficult. Swim caps are also recommended to help protect hair and keep swimmers comfortable in cooler months.
As swimmers progress, additional equipment may be introduced. From later Learn to Swim stages, goggles can be used, and in Pre-Squad and above, swimmers may be required to bring items such as fins.
For Junior Squad and higher levels, swimmers are encouraged to have their own kit bag with essential training equipment, including fins, kickboard, pull buoy, goggles and cap.
A range of swimwear and accessories is available for purchase at reception to support your child’s progression.
Introducing babies to the water early can support both physical and emotional development. Through gentle, guided activities, swimming helps build strength, coordination and body awareness, while also supporting confidence, concentration and social connection.
Early exposure to the water can also help children feel more comfortable and relaxed as they grow, reducing the likelihood of developing fear and encouraging a positive relationship with swimming from the beginning.
Our Parents and Babies classes are designed to support water awareness, safety and confidence in a calm and nurturing environment.
Classes are available for babies from 4 months of age.
We do not use flotation aids such as bubbles or armbands in our lessons.
While these can provide a sense of independence in the short term, they don’t support the development of essential swimming skills. Flotation devices tend to position swimmers vertically in the water, which can make it more difficult to learn key fundamentals such as submersion, body alignment and propulsion.
Instead, our lessons focus on helping swimmers develop confidence, control and correct technique through guided instruction.
At times, we may incorporate equipment such as kickboards, noodles and toys to support learning. These are used thoughtfully, alongside equipment-free sessions, to encourage independence and challenge swimmers as they progress.
Continuing swimming lessons year-round plays an important role in both safety and long-term skill development.
While many families begin lessons with water safety in mind, the need for these skills doesn’t change with the seasons. Maintaining consistency helps ensure children remain confident and capable in and around water.
Ongoing lessons also support steady progression. Regular practice helps reinforce existing skills while building new ones, which is especially important for younger swimmers as coordination, strength and muscle memory continue to develop.
Beyond skill development, swimming supports overall growth — including confidence, coordination and social connection through interaction with instructors, classmates and the aquatic environment.
To ensure a comfortable experience year-round, both pool and on-deck air temperatures are carefully maintained, allowing lessons to continue in a warm and welcoming environment.
Assessment at CHRG Sports Swimming is an ongoing process, designed to support consistent progress and timely advancement through each level.
Swimmers are formally assessed at least twice per term, allowing them to be promoted as soon as they meet the required skill criteria. In addition, our Pool Deck Supervisors — alongside instructors and coaches — continuously monitor progress during lessons to ensure each child is developing at the right pace.
Assessment outcomes, including progress updates and achievements, are available through the Active World app following each assessment period, keeping you informed every step of the way.
Become part of a community where fitness, swimming, and gymnastics support lifelong movement and wellbeing. Our club is designed to help members of all ages build confidence, stay active, and feel connected.
